Brin’s main focus was developing Gemini, the next-generation Google DeepMind base model. Gemini was announced at I/O 2023 in May and is designed to enable highly efficient integration of tools and APIs with “innovation of the future” in mind. Brin participates in technical discussions, leads internal AI research meetings, and plays a role in staffing matters, including recruiting high-demand researchers.
He spends a lot of time with AI groups in the new Charleston East building with CEO Sundar Pichai. Pichai is reportedly enthusiastic about Brin’s relationship with the company and welcomes his contributions.
