iOS 17.3 beta 1 introduces a new feature, Stolen Device Protection.

This is the purpose of protecting your data stored on the device in case of theft and if you are able to see the unlock passcode. Apple’s innovation in security.

When activating the option, there are three important points:

• Accessing saved passwords requires Face ID to verify it’s you

• Change sensitive settings, such as your Apple ID password, which is protected by a “security delay” (certain actions take a certain amount of time to complete).

• No delays will occur when iPhone is in nearby locations, such as home or work.

For any actions, relationships with personal data or cards, mandatory biometric authentication is required. And between each of them there will be a delay of one hour.

You can find the option in the new menu Settings -> Face ID & Passcode -> Protect Stolen Devices.
