On October 2, due to security threats, it is recommended that flights on these routes operate from 15:30 to 19:00 Moscow time. On October 3, flights will be allowed from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Moscow time. “When flying through the airspace of these countries, it is recommended to exercise increased vigilance and select alternative routes published in NOTAMs issued by the aviation authorities of these countries,” the message said.
Flights over Israel, Iran and Iraq were temporarily suspended on October 1. The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended airlines reroute to avoid these territories, causing flight cancellations and delays.
In particular, Russian airlines had to adjust flight routes to Dubai. Rossiya Airlines reported that the flight will cross the airspace of Türkiye, Egypt and Saudi Arabia with a technical landing in Egypt to refuel. Azimuth Airlines canceled flights to Dubai and Tel Aviv, Iran’s Mahan Airlines canceled two flights between Moscow and Tehran.
The restrictions are related to the worsening situation in the Middle East. The day before, on October 1, Iran attacked Israel with several hundred ballistic missiles.
