Twitter has confirmed that it has been officially testing the CoTweets co-posting feature for some time now.

Twitter confirms that the shared post is under test

“We continue to explore new ways for people to collaborate on Twitter,” a company spokesperson told TechCrunch.

The social network is testing how people and brands can use the collaborative publishing feature to develop and reach new audiences, as well as strengthen cross-account collaboration.

Users who have access to CoTweets are randomly selected. They are alerted to the trial opportunity in push notifications that invite them to "Tweet with CoTweets."

After the testing phase, Twitter plans to reconfigure and improve the feature before officially rolling it out to all users.

At the same time, the company does not exclude the possibility that at the end of the experiment, the function will be disabled and all created CoTweets will be deleted.

Twitter has been working on its CoTweets feature for quite some time now. This feature was extracted from the app's code by mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi. His investigation forced company representatives to confirm in April that developments were underway.

Even then, it was known that the invitation to create a joint tweet can be responded to with both consent and rejection, and the feature may be of interest to companies reporting deals or mergers or wanting to promote their products through bloggers.
