We know the phases of the moon by heart. But have you ever thought about how the future inhabitants of the satellite will see the phases of the Earth? The Orion spacecraft of the Artemis I mission offers us a small example of what this scenario would be like. Spoiler: it’s amazing.

With the Artemis I mission, NASA established a clear link between the Apollo missions of the 1960s and 1970s. Now the cameras of the Orion spacecraft have created a “remake” of sorts; offering some images we haven’t seen in decades.

This time, unlike the photograph, the Orion spacecraft recorded a video of the Earth emerging from the dark vacuum of space. Slowly, the pale blue dot takes shape in breathtaking detail despite the distances at which both celestial bodies are located.

Video was captured by one of the many cameras on the Orion ship.. Specifically, the one located at the end of one of the wings of the solar panel that the ship uses to power itself.

The Artemis I mission captures a picture that continues to amaze

Despite all the years that we first saw the Earth from space, this vision continues to amaze in abundance. In 1968, Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders. Captured a breathtaking picture during the first manned flight to orbit the moon.

It was not only NASA’s technical achievement that later helped lay the groundwork for the Apollo 11 landing. helped humanity see their position in the universe from a completely different perspective. From that moment on, we saw each other from the side, and not from the side, as we are already very used to.

The mission of Artemis I is just beginning. Right now, The Orion spacecraft is in orbit around the moon. and test their state-of-the-art tools. Later, he will return to Earth, and he promises to deliver people to the satellite after 2025. On the other hand, the agency is thinking about how to create settlements using 3D printing.

At that time, we’ll have to wait for news from Orion and his experiments in lunar orbit. NASA recently detailed some of the communication issues with the spacecraft. Luckily, they reported that it didn’t take long for them to re-establish contact without too much trouble.
