Like any other ecosystem, Netflix is constantly changing. For some people, the fact that a film is about to leave their catalog is reason enough to watch it as soon as possible. And, like all changes, it has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, classic comedy series such as Denis Leary’s There’s No Cure or Eddie Murphy’s Raw are no longer part of Netflix’s offering. But at the same time, the deal they made with Dave Chappelle was extremely productive.. We salute young comedians like Shane Gillies, Tim Dillon and Mark Normand.
What Netflix has done is admirable. Comedy is under attack today, despite millions of articles saying otherwise. Not for any very deep reason, but because there are so many weird people who insist on being offended by a joke. This is absurd because the whole point of a joke is that it’s not serious, it’s just meant to make you laugh.. It may not make you laugh, but being offended by something you hear on a comedy show is like watching an actor die in one movie and crying because you can’t see him perform in any other movie. .
The joke cannot be racist, misogynistic, transphobic or anything else. Because for a phrase to be discriminatory, someone must be discriminated against. Jokes about racism are not racist unless someone wants to perceive it that way.. Offending you is your business.
Netflix currently has 360 comedy specials. It would be impossible for an ordinary person to see them all. Luckily I’m not an ordinary person, I’ve spent the last year watching one series a day until I can finally tell you which ones are the best. Obviously this is not true, but a funny joke. The truth is that I saw about thirty, that is, all my favorite comedians.. Some are no longer on Netflix. But these are the best of those still left.
Dave Chappelle – Sticks and Stones (2019)
There is no doubt that Dave Chappelle is a legend. He started doing comedy in 1987 when he was just fourteen years old. Since then it has appeared everywhere. His Chappelle’s Show was so successful that twenty years after its premiere it remains a cult classic. Today, at fifty years old, he is still active as a comedian, having signed a major deal with Netflix that paid him $24.1 million for just one of his comedy specials, The Closer. We know this because a disgruntled employee leaked confidential documents. How much he received for others remains a mystery. However, the total value of the contract is estimated at $60 million.
Sticks and Stones caused huge controversy when it came out in 2019. Dave Chappelle’s high profile ensured that he would be seen by millions of people, which infuriated the mainstream media. The comedian took a completely anti-future and anti-politically correct position. Added to this is that some journalists have adopted the silly technique of reproducing their jokes in the text as if they were part of speech.. This way they can pretend that what he said is serious and thus criticize him.
As is often the case, the attempt to cancel it resulted in many people hearing about Chappelle for the first time, seeing it as something special, and enjoying it immensely. Thus, Rotten Tomatoes critics scored 40%, and viewers scored 99%. Sticks and Stones is Dave Chappelle’s funniest work in years.. Talk about how it wouldn’t be such a bad thing to be sexually assaulted by Michael Jackson, about how “alphabet people,” referring to the LGBT community, hate each other.
He then directed the film “Closer,” which was classified as transphobic and prompted an outcry from many Netflix employees demanding that they end their alliance with the comedian. More than just a comedy special, “Closer” featured a long speech with the occasional joke. inclusions. Because he focuses entirely on the message he wants to convey to the audience about the American culture war. Whereas in real comedy you talk about dozens of topics. Stick and the Rocks was his best Netflix special to date.
Tim Dillon – A Real Hero (2022)

Tim Dillon is the funniest cultural commentator alive. His podcast, The Tim Dillon Show, is a laugh-out-loud The comedian comments on the most scandalous news of the moment from the point of view of a complete psychopath. He never has guests, he sits alone in his studio, creating absurd scenarios and telling stories about his disastrous past, when he used all the drugs in the world and his crazy family.
“Real Hero” is essentially an episode of his podcast, but with an audience and in a movie theater.. It’s filled with anecdotes about his unstable family, powerful jibes at adult Disney fans, jokes about how absurd reality has become during the pandemic, and reflections on how stupid American culture can be.

Shane Gillies – Beautiful Dogs (2023)

Shane Gillies is the best young comedian in the world today. This means that he is second only to living legends. It survived a cancellation attempt in 2019. he was fired from Saturday Night Live for jokes he made about Asians on his podcast. This caught the attention of Joe Rogan. A few weeks later, Shane Gillies will appear as a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience, the most popular podcast in the world.
His friendship with Joe Rogan made him a superstar, as it has done several times before. Being friends with Joe Rogan will almost guarantee you a career as a comedian.. Especially now that he has his own comedy club, The Comedy Mothership. However, unlike some mediocre comedians who have tried to use Joe Rogan’s podcast as a springboard to global stardom, Shane Gillies is actually quite talented.
The thing about Shane Gillis is that, unlike most popular comedians, he comes from a small town in Pennsylvania. That’s why it has a number of unique cultural perspectives. this contrasts with the views of his colleagues in New York or Los Angeles. Before becoming a comedian, he played American football and spent a year at West Point Military Academy. His background is very different from most comedians who have an artistic background, such as theater.
In Beautiful Dogs, Shane Gillies showcases one of his best talents: make the best Donald Trump impression you can. He tells funny anecdotes about his girlfriend telling him she dated a Navy SEAL (the US Army unit that killed Osama bin Laden), his strange visit to the George Washington Museum at Mount Vernon during a pandemic, and his love for people with Down syndrome. He certainly has a unique talent, reminiscent of the great Louis C.K.
Bill Burr – Paper Tiger (2019)

Bill Burr is a veteran comedian. He began his career as a comedian a few years after Chappelle in 1992. As he says in his podcast, for several years he performed in every comedy club there was.. Over time, he appeared on several television shows, gaining fame by regularly appearing on Chappelle’s show since 2004.
He is known for his bad temper. His humor stems from his frustration, embodied in anecdotes in which some triviality caused him to explode in anger.. In this iconic clip, he was booed for almost thirteen minutes and angrily insulted the crowd. When you listen to him speak on stage, you get the impression that he is constantly on the verge of inflicting great verbal damage on the person responsible for his rage. So he begins to philosophize about things that bother him, such as the complicated dynamics between men and women, and between white and black people.
It is a great honor to see a teacher at work. It’s clear in Paper Tiger how comfortable Bill Burr is on stage, doing what he loves, and being one of the best in history at his job. The way he destroys society with his fast and unbalanced rhetoric is as funny as it is intriguing..
Louis C.K. – Jolly (2010)

It is often said that stand-up comedians are the philosophers of our time. Because by presenting an everyday situation in a humorous way, they manage to make us see how ridiculous our “serious problems” can look. Louis C.K. is a master of philosophizing on stage.. That’s why “Jolly” begins with the statement that we are all: “Dead people who haven’t died yet.” Because we will spend much more time dead than alive. From here he goes straight to comparing Ray Charles to Adolf Hitler.
Much of “Jolly” is about how ungrateful we all are these days. If in ancient times a trip from New York to California could take a lifetime, today it takes several hours. This does not prevent complaints being made at every stage of the journey.. The same thing happens with phones. While in ancient times sending a message from the US to China could take an indefinite amount of time, today it is a matter of instantaneousness. But you will never see anyone raving about their phone’s capabilities, but rather complaining that it sucks..
Before the BIG scandal, some people considered Louis CK to be the best comedian of his generation. Considered by many others to be the best comedian of all time. When the world realized that he was a complete pervert (his fans already knew this), he had to go into hiding for about a year, as all his projects were cancelled. He then came back stronger than ever, directing four hilarious specials in just three years.
While this is the best Louis CK special available on Netflix, it’s not even the best of all his comedy specials. Many fans claim that his masterpiece is Chewed Up, the special that most people knew him for.because his success brought him fame and because he was available on YouTube for a long time. Technically it’s still true, but it’s just audio.
Although many are disappointed with its success, It’s a testament to his great talent that he was able to return to stardom after being wiped off the map.fired from all sides. He was never legally charged, so he was tried and found guilty in the court of public opinion. He paid the price for his twisted actions and was accepted with open arms and reintegrated into society. There will be some who still hate him, but he is so good at what he does that it makes him an unstoppable force.
