Time for big changes for Prime Video, Amazon’s on-demand streaming platform. Prime Video will soon introduce a new interface with a clean look and, at least apparently, it seems more functional and easier to navigate than the current one.
Over the years, Prime Video has built a loyal audience of viewers, impressed by its rich catalog of content — including many cult and gems not found in competing services — and by its ever-expanding arsenal of Amazon original movies and movies. tv series . But the content isn’t everything, you also need a ‘container’ that is pleasing to the eye and easy to use. And perhaps this was one of the Amazon service’s pain points. Things are finally going to change.
An Amazon spokesperson explained that the new interface primarily addresses one need: “to make the user experience less demanding and overwhelming” for customers. In short, simplicity is key.
Where Amazon got some inspiration from Netflix it is obvious. So on the app we now find a navigation bar on the left side of the screen. In the new vertical bar we find a section dedicated to the homepage, a command to access the catalog and then as many commands to watch the paid content and the movies already rented or purchased.
The home page now always opens with the new section dedicated to 10 most viewed content on Prime Video, just like it already happens on Netflix. The interface has also been updated with new sections and subsections dedicated to niche genres. All content that is included in the subscription (and therefore not in the individual subscriptions, the so-called channels) is indicated with a blue check mark.
The new interface makes its debut on devices android within the next two weeks. Consoles, smart TVs, set-top boxes and bari dongles follow. We’ll have to wait a little longer – we’re talking a few months – to see it on Apple devices.
