House of the Dragon will bring fans back to the Game of Thrones narrative universe, and the showrunner of the TV series, Ryan Condal, wanted a behind-the-scenes comparison by questioning another much-loved franchise. Condal compared the Targaryen ai jedi featured in the prequel trilogy of Star Wars.

Here are his words:

I have been a fan of the books for about twenty years and have clearly been a fan of the TV series, I followed every episode the day it aired. You can’t not watch Game of Thrones, it’s like the Beatles. I’ve tried to work on this show by doing what I wanted to see as a fan, and I’m very happy with the result that came out of it. The Targaryens are like the Jedi of Star Wars, when they were talked about at the time when there were so many and very powerful, and everyone wanted to see them in that context. And now even within the Game of Thrones universe there will be this thing.

House of the Dragon, the highly anticipated HBO series, debuts on Sky and will stream NOW on August 22, simultaneously with US cable TV broadcasting, in all areas where Sky has a presence.
