Disney + announced that the first season of the critically acclaimed original series The bear will debut on the streaming platform on October 5 in Italy, with all eight episodes available.

The series joins a list of titles streaming on Disney+ this fall, including Andor (September 21), The Kardashians Season 2 (September 22), The Old Man (September 28) and Candy (October 12).

In The Bear, Carmen plays “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a young chef from the restaurant business, who returns to Chicago to run the family sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland, after a heartbreaking family death. In a world unlike anything he’s used to, Carmy must face the harsh realities of running a small business, his stubborn and unwilling kitchen staff, as well as his strained family relationships, while dealing with the aftermath of his brother’s suicide. .

The Bear is about food, family, the madness of routine, the beauty of the Sense of Urgency and the steep and slippery inconveniences. As Carmy struggles to transform both The Original Beef of Chicagoland and himself, he teams up with a slightly over the top cooking team that ends up being the family of his choice.

In addition to White, this half-hour comedy series also features Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich”), Ayo Edebiri (“Sydney Adamu”), Abby Elliott (“Natalie “Sugar ‘Berzatto”), Lionel Boyce (“Marcus ”), Liza Colón-Zayas (“Tina”), Edwin Lee Gibson (“Ebraheim”) and Matty Matheson (“Neil Fak”).

The Bear was created by Christopher Storer (Ramy, Eighth Grade – Third Media), who also serves as executive producer along with Joanna Calo (BoJack Horseman, Undone), Hiro Murai (Atlanta, Station Eleven), and Nate Matteson (Station Eleven, The Choe Show) by Super Frog and Josh Senior, while Tyson Bidner (Ramy) is the producer and Matty Matheson is the co-producer. The series is produced by FX Productions and has been renewed for a second season.
