This is the summary:
In the late 1960s, a trial took place in Rome that caused a great deal of commotion. The playwright and poet Aldo Braibanti was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of plagiarism, that is, having subjected himself, in a physical and psychological sense, to a student and friend of his who had recently come of age. At the behest of the family, the boy was imprisoned in a mental hospital and subjected to a series of devastating electric shocks in order to “cure” that “devilish” influence. A few years later, the crime of plagiarism was removed from the penal code. But in reality it had served to accuse the “others” of all kinds, the bandits of the norm. Based on real events, the film tells a polyphonic story, in which family and friends, accusers and supporters, and a mostly absent-minded or indifferent public opinion take shape alongside the accused. Only a journalist is committed to reconstructing the truth, facing suspicion and censorship.
