Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 This is the movie that the Marvel Cinematic Universe so badly needed to win back the trust of fans. But apart from the excellent financial collection and positive reviews, the new James Gunn has also received recognition outside the entertainment world; very important in the social sphere.
PETAan organization that seeks to protect the rights of animals by exposing animal cruelty, awarded the James Gunn Award and Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3.
as you surely know Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 reveals situations animal abuse. In fact, one of the main characters, Rocket, is his victim. Unfortunately, this is a problem that we have to deal with in the real world as well.
So from PETA they think Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 as a “masterpiece in animal rights”. Not only for daring to show strong scenes in this sense, but also for spreading the word that animals need to be protected and saved.
“Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3 it does what few films do: it tells a beautiful and compassionate animal testing story for a mass audience like Marvel. The film features beautifully animated animals, including Rocket, Lilla, Flor and Teefs, who take moviegoers on an emotional roller coaster of exposing the evils of animal testing.”
The organization also acknowledges that this would not have been possible without James Gunn, the film’s director. They note that, despite the touching story, does not refuse to expose animal cruelty. “James Gunn’s screenplay doesn’t deviate from a tough (but often realistic) theme. We are delighted with the story of empathy for all living and sentient things,” they add:
“For his compelling portrayal of Rocket and his friends, and for reminding moviegoers that lab-tortured animals are sentient beings, not numbers tattooed on them, PETA honors James Gunn with the Not a Number Award.”
What is the PETA Not a Number Award? In fact, honors best animal rights film of the year “For helping the public see animals as individuals and suggesting that just because we can experiment with them doesn’t mean we should.”
During Guardians of the Galaxy, Part 3Nebula expresses: “Using animals in experiments is the worst thing Thanos has ever done”. PETA emphasized this phrase to make it clear that in the real world, those who abuse animals are the real villains.
Lisa Lange, Senior Vice President of PETA, was grateful that the film, with such a large audience, cares about animal rights.
“PETA wants everyone to know that we can do the same by simply speaking out against animal testing and demanding that corporations, universities and government agencies switch to cutting-edge animal-free research.”
