While Razer is known for its peripherals games D laptops, now the American company has decided to take the next step and bet on portable consoles. To be sure, the success of the Nintendo Switch prompted Ming-Liang Tan, the company’s CEO, to venture into new business.
Shortly after the presentation of the Logitech G Gaming, which we have already been able to test in this house at an exclusive event in Berlin, we have another gaming device that has just been introduced to the world.
This was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas, which claims to be the world’s first 5G mobile gaming device. The Razer Edge 5G is a collaboration between Razer, Qualcomm, Xbox and Verizon. Switch from laptops to consoles.
This portable device offers a concept very similar to that of the Logitech console, but takes it one step further. Its creators explain that the console will allow you to: play locally, transfer them from a PC or access them via the cloud.
VIOLATION: @Verizon, @Razer as well as @qualcomm are teaming up to develop the world’s first 5G mobile gaming handheld, the Razer Edge 5G! This will allow you to play your favorite games whether you’re playing in the cloud, in the app, or streaming from your console. https://t.co/TYPw5xFyeF pic.twitter.com/F9Vg3CfABl

Unlike the Logitech G Gaming, which only works over WiFi, the Razer Edge 5G will have 5G connectivity. This will give gamers the ability to stream or download games over a 5G broadband connection without lag.
The Razer Edge 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform, which was unveiled in late 2021 along with the development kit we saw here last year. The presence of Xbox makes sense here because its system in the cloud works so well.
Razer Game Console Specifications
At that time, the wearable device had some interesting characteristics such as 6.65″ Full HD OLED screen with 10-bit HDR120Hz refresh rate and 20:9 wide-angle screen.
Of course, this was a development version of the device and now we are talking about the final version for the consumer. So maybe things have changed. We’ll have to wait to find out more, as The Razer Edge 5G will be unveiled at RazerCon on October 15 this year.
