If you are a fan Mario Kart, you’ll love the new luxury watches that TAG Heuer and Nintendo have unveiled. But get your wallet ready because they won’t be cheap at all. The renowned Swiss watchmaker has unveiled two limited edition models inspired by the Japanese company’s popular franchise.

Both are part of the series TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart and have interesting features. The cheapest model consists of a chronograph with a 44mm polished steel sports case and contains several references to the video game. The most important are the Mario Kart logo on the tachometer bezel and the figure of Mario on his racing car on the second hand. The strap is made of black calfskin with red details.

The 45mm case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium and features the game’s logo on the tachymeter scale. But the detail that truly identifies the watch is the three-piece skeletonized dial, which features Mario’s custom tourbillon and two typical racing memorabilia: a spiked blue shell and Bill’s bullet. The strap is also in black and red calfskin.

The back cover of both models is different. In the chronograph, it has a metal case engraved with the Mario Kart logo, while in the tourbillon chronograph, it is sapphire crystal cover which allows you to see the clockwork in action.

As we already mentioned, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Mario Kart is a limited edition. The cheapest version will be sold 3000 unitswhile the more expensive option will have much less availability since only 250 will hit the market.

In terms of availability, online distribution of both Mario Kart watches will be limited to Australia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. As long as the prices are $4300 (or 4150 euros) for the cheapest model, and $25,600 (€24,750) for the most exclusive option.

It is worth noting that in 2021, TAG Heuer and Nintendo teamed up to release a watch inspired by Super Mario. However, this was smart watch with Wear OS, whose 2,000 units sold for $2,150 each.
