The DualSense Edge is a PlayStation 5 Pro controller that was announced a few months ago and we have yet to know its price and release date. Now, surprisingly, Sony has announced their controller, which will directly compete with the Xbox Elite, but, as with the PS5, at an extremely high price.
How much? $200, €239.99 in Spain. Yes, the price is close to the most personalized SCUF available for PS5 that we have already tested. This will be the price that all those who want to get the DualSense Edge will have to pay when it hits stores on January 26, 2023.
Like the Xbox Elite, DualSense Edge lets you customize every aspect of the controller by changing the stick sizes to suit your play style: standard, high dome, and low dome. In addition, it adds back buttons that can be assigned to any button. It will even let you change how the triggers behave, all in a design identical to the DualSense but with a construction that feels more premium.
The Pro controller includes a new button along with the rest of the regular DualSense. The Fn button will allow you to switch between saved profiles, adjust the volume of the game and chat, as well as set up a new profile, it will be multifunctional and allow you to change settings on the fly. The idea is that players have access to multiple functions without being too distracted, so everything is within the reach of a button.
It is logical that this is a controller very focused on the most demanding, not only in terms of benefits, but also in terms of price. DualSense Edge it’s 50 bucks more more expensive than the Xbox Elite by most available offerings, with the controller alone already costing half the price of the console.
A price that many won’t want to pay. However, the biggest question is whether it will also suffer from the same drift as the base model, which is one of its most pressing issues. Here is what will be in your box:
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller
- Braided USB cable
- 2 standard sticks
- 2 high sticks
- 2 low sticks
- 2 back buttons
- 2 switch buttons
- connector housing
- transport case
