The Ministry of Labor does not support the idea of introducing a six-day working week in Russia. The legislation already provides for a flexible approach to the formation of working hours, there is no need to make changes to the Labor Code (LC). This was announced to the TASS agency by the head of the department Anton Kotyakov.
According to the minister, the worker and the employer can agree and “combine the distance with traditional labor relations or individually regulate the working day with the appropriate remuneration.”
Earlier, the association of businessmen for the development of business patriotism “Avanti” sent a proposal to the Ministry of Labor to extend the term from five days to six days at the legislative level. The organization believes such a move will contribute to economic sovereignty in the face of Western sanctions.
Anton Kotyakov believes that the emphasis should be on regulating the relationship between the employee and the employer from the point of view of “personal dialogue”. If an employee has to work more than the 40 hours per week specified in the Labor Code, additional pay must be provided.
Earlier, Kazakhstan decided to legalize a four-day work week. The corresponding modifications were made to the country’s Labor Code, which will come into force as of July of this year.
