Olga Skorobogatova, First Vice President of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with SPIEF that the bio-procurement project in retail stores, that is, face-to-face payment, will be launched before the end of the year by the Center for Biometric Technologies with the support of the System National Payment Cards.
“We really want to launch bioprocurement this year <…> This is the payment per person up to a certain amount in commercial and service companies. I think you will have a great demand for small quantities with the Center for Biometric Technologies, ”he said in an interview with the RBC television channel (quoted by RIA Novosti).
In his opinion, this innovation can then be “disseminated throughout the country, in all commercial chains.”
By the end of 2022, as Kommersant recalls, bankers were already talking about the need to reduce the security requirements of equipment and devices in order to introduce bioprocurement in various types of businesses. If the requirements are too high, no “per person” payment will be implemented.
Olga Skorobogatova also added that the Central Bank is working on a loyalty program that will allow customers to receive cashback to their account immediately after making a purchase through the FPS (fast payment system).
