From this Tuesday (20), WhatsApp will be able to mute calls from unknown numbers. The innovation was announced by Meta in conjunction with a new global campaign focused on secure communication, and it also brings a Privacy Checkup within the app.
By activating the blocking of calls from phone numbers unknown to the user, app can mute all. that means spam and scam calls will be deleted automatically.
So calls can be checked from the call list even if the phone isn’t ringing – if any, it’s actually important.
How to silence unknown calls
To use the new functionality, app users must first activate it:
1. Access the WhatsApp settings menu;
2. Select “Privacy”;
3. Open the “Calls” menu and enable the “Mute unknown callers” option.
When WhatsApp mutes a call from an unknown phone number, in addition to displaying it in the app’s own list, the user may still see it in notifications.
It is worth noting that innovation is now available to all users of the application.
WhatsApp privacy check
Another area launched by WhatsApp today is Privacy Checkup. When accessing the privacy settings, users will be able to see a banner about the functionality with the “Configure” button highlighted.
By tapping the button you can make direct adjustments to the properties, for example:
-
Who can communicate?: whether other people can add you to groups, mute unknown numbers and block contacts;
-
personal data: who can see your profile picture, last seen and online, and message reads;
-
speeches: duration of temporary messages and encrypted backup;
-
Bill: fingerprint lock and two-step verification.
The idea is that the user practically has a hub that concentrates the main privacy features of the app. The news also comes with a global WhatsApp campaign that encourages sending private messages to other people, such as loved ones and friends.
