The head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin has proposed mass privatization in Russia in order to replenish the budget without raising taxes and flat rates. Shokhin spoke about this in an interview with Interfax.

The RSPP proposed to carry out a massive privatization to replenish the budget

In his opinion, there is an excess of state-owned enterprises and state-owned corporations in Russia, especially in the banking and industrial sectors. From its sale you can get “hundreds of billions of rubles”, and the business “will not waste it”, but, on the contrary, will allow it to be managed more efficiently.

Shokhin believes that today the state “feels the little things”, and what can be transferred to the hands of businessmen “no one needs, neither the state nor the enterprises.” The head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs explained that he was talking about “all kinds of state unitary enterprises, municipal unitary enterprises that require large and serious investments.”

He also opposed the recovery of the windfall tax. According to the bill (on June 21, the first reading passed in the State Duma), the largest companies must transfer 10% of excess profits for 2021-2022 to the budget.

“We are against single contributions, we are in favor of having a tax system that responds, among other things, to non-standard situations. We believe that it is impossible to introduce more taxes on windfall profits,” Shokhin concluded.
