Russian scientists have created a computer model that allows doctors to see damage to heart tissue associated with heart rhythm disorders. This model helps predict disease and select the best treatment modalities. Scientists from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology studied cardiac arrhythmias, which occur as a result of damage to heart tissue and require surgical intervention.
The model created allows you to create a virtual picture of the damage in each patient’s heart, which helps you understand how the disease develops. Surgery is usually required to treat such disorders, but it can damage healthy heart tissue.
Scientists have developed a method to help minimize damage to healthy tissue during surgical treatment. The model uses data from the patient’s heart to create a three-dimensional virtual model of the organ that takes into account the structure of tissues and shows how electrical signals propagate through damaged areas of the heart muscle.
This improvement will increase the accuracy of surgical interventions and reduce the risks in patients with cardiac arrhythmia. The work was carried out with the support of the Priority 2030 program and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
