The issue was first brought up by the gaming communities, who realized that the Turkish lira, which was previously used to purchase games on platforms such as Steam, PlayStation and Xbox, could not be purchased. Now when trying to buy currency a message appears stating that users must select a local currency for p2p trading in accordance with Binance’s rules for the specified verification country.
Binance has not officially announced the restrictions and has not commented on whether they are temporary or permanent.
In March 2023, Binance had already banned the trading of US dollars and euros through its p2p service. The restriction on trade in dollars and euros was associated with the European Union’s acceptance of sanctions.
