Apple has announced that it has begun accepting applications for the 2024 iPhone Security Research Program.
As part of it, security researchers can obtain specialized Apple devices that periodically scan for iOS vulnerabilities. In 2019, experts found more than 130 “holes”.
The company claims the hackers helped it implement “new mitigation measures” to secure iOS devices.
This year, the Cupertinos are giving out modified iPhone 14 Pros with special hardware and software. Researchers can set up or disable iOS protections to manipulate them in a variety of ways. This cannot be done with a regular iPhone.
Applications for participation in the program are accepted until October 31. Selected participants will be notified in early 2024.
