Russian brands began to produce clothing in the CIS countries.

Manufacturers in these countries can be paid in rubles. There are also preferential customs conditions – the import of products to the Russian Federation without duties or with reduced tariffs, Izvestia reports.

Factories in the CIS are technologically developed and receive subsidies that allow them to obtain attractive production costs: they are 20% to 50% lower than in China, Turkey and Russia for comparable products and batches. This allows retailers to sell clothing produced there at lower prices, said Anna Lebsak-Kleymans, director of the agency Fashion Consulting Group.

Previously, Russian brands sewed collections mainly in Chinese factories, but then they faced a number of difficulties: lead times for orders and delivery of goods increased, and tailoring services and logistics also became more expensive.

• Since the end of February 2022, the brands Zara, Bershka, H&M, Uniqlo and several others have left the Russian market within the framework of a special Russian operation in Ukraine. In this regard, a significant part of the niche of modern youth clothing remained vacant, which Russian brands rushed to occupy. Analysts predict further expansion of the Russian fashion segment, even if defunct brands return, albeit under a different name. In his opinion, this will not affect domestic producers too much.
