Google is rolling out Gmail’s basic HTML view this Monday (25th). Will be retired in January 2024. Solution served as a cheaper and faster alternative than the default view of the email client.
At the end of the support, All users with basic HTML view will be migrated to the standard platform. According to Google, this version provides access to all new features and security mechanisms of Gmail.
Although less modern than the traditional interface, Gmail in basic HTML has its advantages. The service loads faster, is lighter for low-performance computers, and does not require very fast internet.
While Gmail’s core solution didn’t offer all the features of the traditional interface, the alternative still had its uses. By removing the source from the platform, Google limits users’ options and forces the adoption of the most modern version, even if it is not interesting for all needs.
