iFarm opened the first vertical farm in Dubai

Vertical greenhouse manufacturer iFarm has opened its first vertical farm in Dubai, powered by iFarm’s patented technology. This is stated on the company’s website.

iFarm in Dubai is the first in the world to farm using Multigreens technology. In one space you can grow several crops: microgreens, edible flowers and various varieties of herbs.

iFarm uses the Ebb & Flow (flood and drain) system on its Dubai farm, which involves periodic flooding and draining of nutrient solutions.

“For example, using iFarm Multigreens technology, the yield of fries lettuce is 38% higher than on peat farms with a different irrigation and planting method,” noted iFarm agrotechnologist Nikolai Podvigin.

The farm is located in a 784 m2 premises, thanks to the optimized use of space, the total cultivation area is 712 m2. The farm plans to grow more than 3 tons of produce per month. It will be supplied to restaurants, hotels, resorts and retail chains.

“The Middle East is a target region for us. In addition to the farm already operational in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and this beauty in Dubai, we are now designing five more facilities for clients,” wrote iFarm co-founder Alexander Lysovsky.

In 2022, iFarm moved its headquarters to the United Arab Emirates, Lysovsky noted. iFarm was founded in Helsinki.

In September 2022, RB.RU talked about iFarm’s plans to build a vertical farm in Saudi Arabia.
