Former head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation, Igor Artemyev, became head of the St. Petersburg International Commodities and Raw Materials Exchange (SPIMEX). The decision to appoint Artemyev as president of the exchange was made by its board of directors on November 3, SPbMTSB reported in a statement.
Artemyev replaced Alexey Rybnikov, who was president of SPbIMEX for 12 years, in this position.
“It is necessary to improve legislation to include new strategic goods in the trade sphere, attract more participants and expand activities in the EAEU space. Among the most important tasks is, of course, the continuation of the formation of national indicators, mainly for oil,” Artemiev commented.
In his new role, he will also develop a development strategy for the exchange for the coming period.
Igor Artemyev headed the FAS for 16 years, from March 2004 to almost the end of 2020. During this time, four packages of antimonopoly laws were adopted and a fifth was prepared. In 2020-2023 Artemyev was an assistant to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
