The Russian business of British American Tobacco (BAT) has been transferred to BFI Holding, an Abu Dhabi company, Kommersant writes in reference to changes in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
BFI Holding is owned, among others, by three former senior managers of British American Tobacco. These are the former general director of BAT for the Russian Federation, Turkey, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Belarus, Faruk Yenere, the former head of the legal affairs department, Oleg Barvin, as well as the former marketing director in the Russian Russia. Elena Zavarzina.
Additionally, Sergey Kudinov and Andrey Osavoluk are among the owners of BFI Holding. According to Kommersant, it is possible that they are associated with the distributor of BAT products in the Russian Federation – the SNS group of companies.
The publication indicates that Osavolyuk was a co-owner of the Russian legal entity Global Functional Drinks. The company was dedicated to the supply of beverages that are part of the SNS portfolio. Kudinov, in turn, headed the organization of the SNS Center group.
In early September it emerged that BAT was divesting Russian assets. The manufacturer then announced the sale of the business, but the amount of the transaction was not specified. As a result of the transaction, the company changed its name to ITMS Group, among other things.
Earlier this month, manufacturer Japan Tobacco International announced its decision to remain in the Russian market “so as not to deprive consumers of the product they are accustomed to.”
