Vikhr-1 missiles, developed by the Tula Instrument Design Bureau in the late 80s, began to be purchased in bulk only after 2013.

They are designed to destroy armored vehicles, including active armored vehicles, and air targets moving at speeds of up to 800 km per hour. The missiles can be launched from altitudes up to 4,000 meters and have a maximum firing range of 10 km.

Initially, Vikhr-M missiles were designed only for Su-25 and Ka-52 helicopters, but work is currently underway to adapt the complex to Mi-28NE and Mi-35P helicopters, as well as Orion-E unmanned aerial vehicles. .

Alan Lushnikov, head of the Kalashnikov company, emphasized that obligations under this year’s state defense order have been successfully fulfilled, and work continues to improve the missile, including improving the range and warhead.
