Sunday is a great time to prepare for the new work week, find strength and meet Monday fully armed. To do this, I propose to remember what interesting things happened over the past six days, what was written about and what was discussed on the pages of iPhones.ru.

This week has been full of rumors regarding the iPhone 16, and the public’s attention has also been focused on OpenAI and the situation with its CEO Sam Altman.

Read about this and much more in our digest:

1. What we know about the next iPhone

Analysts Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo shared details about the next generation of iPhones. So, according to Young, Apple increased the screens of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max to 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches. Both displays will feature LTPO technology with a 120Hz refresh rate and retain the same Dynamic Island cord.

Ming-Chi Kuo, in turn, talked about the cameras: iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have the same telephoto lens with tetraprism and 5x optical lens. A similar camera is now used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but the old module remains in the iPhone 15 Pro, which is why the models have different zooms: 5x in the iPhone 15 Pro Max and 3x in the iPhone 15 Pro.

Photos of what appears to be an iPhone 16 Pro battery have also appeared online. If you believe them, the smartphone will have a battery with a capacity of 3355 mAh. This is a very small increase in looking at the iPhone 15 Pro (3274 mAh).

How reliable it is is unknown. Typically, Apple batteries are black, but there may be a caveat for the prototype.

Finally, 9to5Mac shared photos of a pre-production Apple Watch prototype. It was assembled in December 2013, and today is the earliest prototype that has been posted on the Internet.

The author of the leak, collector Giulio Zompetti, said that along with the dead watch there was a unique charger included. Although it looks like the stock one that comes in the box with any Apple Watch, the device only works for an hour with its corpses.

2. OpenAI scandal

Sam Altman

On November 17, OpenAI’s board of directors announced the image of CEO Sam Altman, and it immediately became one of the most talked about events on the Internet. This is because Altman was able to transform OpenAI from a startup into a large IT company that sets trends in its field.

A press release about the implementation with official vague wording, so no one was equal, for which Altman was fired. Company employees learned about his publications on the Internet, as well as throughout the world.

And so, on Tuesday, November 22, OpenAI announced on the social network X (Twitter) that Sam Altman was returning to the company as CEO.

Also, board members and some directors will resign. The new board will include former Salesforce CEO Bret Kontrol, former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and Quora founder Adam D’Angelo. will monitor the chairman of the board.

On topic: The scandal is worse than the game. What’s going on with OpenAI, which fired Sam Altman, asked him back and is about to lose 2/3 of its employees

3. Various interesting things

📍Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, which reported the placement of advertising companies in X next to posts about Nazism. The lawsuit alleges that the organization is “manipulating” the social network by using accounts that follow only the profiles of major brands or users who produce fringe content. These accounts “constantly scrolled and refreshed” the feed until they found ads next to extremist posts.

📍The Witcher and The Witcher 2 games were released on Mac with M1, M2 processors and macOS Ventura. More precisely, the developer CD Projekt RED published a patch for these games on GOG, Steam and the App Store. It added native support for M1 and M2 processors, as well as macOS Ventura. That is, you no longer need to emulate other chips to run these titles.

📍We checked that we recognized USB‑C in the new iPhone. You’ll be surprised how much you can connect to this connector. Thanks to the abandonment of Lightning, the iPhone instantly became a full-fledged workstation, which does not match the iPad in functionality.

If you’re too lazy to watch the video, here’s what you can do with USB-C on your iPhone:

  • Charge watches, headphones, phones
  • Read media from flash drives, SD cards and cameras
  • Control keyboard, mouse and gamepad
  • Listen to music through headphones
  • Recording via external microphone
  • Display images on an external screen via HDMI and VGA
  • Record video on a webcam
  • Connect a multihub with several ports
  • Connect the Internet via an Ethernet cable
  • And even cool down outside with a hand-held fan.
  • 📍The editor-in-chief of iPhones.ru explained why he remains on his iPhone for another year and is unlikely to regret it. I wonder if you agree with him or if you have a different opinion. Especially if you’re reading, this is already with the iPhone 15 of any model.

On topic: I love gadgets, but I did not change the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 15. There are objective reasons.

    Fake Google Chrome update message

📍 Hackers have found a new application for the Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOC) virus. They either create mock-ups of sites or compromise phenomena and display fake advertisements on them in Google Search. It reveals “updates” to Safari and Chrome for macOS.

It’s simple: the user downloads an additional update for Safari or Chrome from a large banner. However, after running the installer, this software actually infects the computer with the AMOS virus, which steals confidential data.

To avoid getting hooked by hackers, do not download similar software from unknown sites, update your browsers directly from the settings on your computer, and do not allow applications to bypass macOS GateKeeper protection if they require it.

📍The Iran Khodro Den sedan began to be sold in Russia. This car, originally from Iran, arrived at dealer showrooms along with imports. Becoming an economic eastern four-wheeled friend was replaced for 1.6–1.7 million rubles.

We figured out what kind of brand it is. It turns out that Iran Khodro appeared before AvtoVAZ, back in 1962 and was originally called the Iranian National Company. She was engaged in the assembly of commercial buses, minibuses and Mercedes-Benz trucks. Read it, it’s interesting.

📍The first photos of the switched on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra have appeared. Their authenticity was confirmed by authoritative insider @UniverseIce on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Judging by the photo, the smartphone has a display without curves, flat edges of the body and the design of the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera block. According to rumors, the body of the device is made of titanium, like the iPhone 15 Pro.

That’s what this week was like. Thank you for reading us, see you next weekend.
