Tesla announced yesterday (12) Optimus Gen 2 is the company’s second generation of humanoid robots. The equipment can handle delicate objects such as eggs, crouch, and walk 30% faster than before.

Among other features, the machine has articulated sections on the feet, tactile sensors on all fingers, and a neck rotating motion. Compared to Tesla’s first generation robot, Bumblebee, the new one has reduced its weight by 10 kg and has better balance and body control.

Check out the following Optimus Gen 2 demo video:

“Everything in this video is real, not computer graphics. Everything is real time, nothing is accelerated. [O robô tem] “Incredible hardware improvements made by the team,” underlined Tesla senior software engineer Julian Ibarz on X (formerly Twitter).

Will Tesla’s robot be sold to the public?

Just like Bumblebee, despite the revelations, Optimus Gen 2 will not be sold to the public (at least for now). The project is a prototype and must meet industrial demands when produced on a large scale.

Tesla’s idea is that in the near future robots will begin to replace the heavy work done by humans. It can carry a lot of weight between tasks of the machine.

Elon Musk commented last year that robots will “change the world” more than the cars Tesla is developing.
