Startup 360MAX closed an investment round on the Brainbox.VC crowdfunding platform: they managed to attract 11.4 million rubles (this is 78% of the planned amount). 396 private investors invested in the VR cinema chain, founded in 2016 by Anton Zhdanov, and received a 6% stake. The funds will be used to market and expand the self-service mini-cinema franchise.
According to the company’s press release, cited by Forbes, “the lead investor was a syndicate of the Brainbox.team site team,” which invested 10% of the total revenue.
Initially, the 360MAX company was developed as a film production company, but since 2020 it has launched a network of theaters to watch movies in virtual reality. The first places to open were the capital’s Skazka amusement park, VDNKh street and the Greenwich shopping center (Yekaterinburg).
Within the framework of the franchise program, the startup will open self-service mini-cinemas starting in 2023, starting in Rostov-on-Don and plans to increase the network to 400 points throughout the country. The founders suggest that in 2024-25. will release more than 10 items per month.
“The entire 360MAX team expresses deep gratitude and infinite gratitude to everyone who believed in the project and helped us achieve our goal. We are excited about the opportunities that are now open to us! Fasten your seatbelts, we’re going to fly!” commented Anton Zhdanov at the end of the round.
The next steps that the startup plans are the creation of its own streaming service: “Netflix in the world of virtual reality with Russian roots.”
