Google recently announced that the YouTube Kids app will be discontinued on Smart TVs. The kids’ app will be removed from compatible TVs in July.

“YouTube Kids is changing: The YouTube Kids app icon on your TV will disappear in July,” Google said. “However, you can still use YouTube Kids on your TV by accessing your child’s profile in the YouTube app,” he added.

It’s worth noting that the change also applies to TV dongles and consoles. Currently, the YouTube Kids app is compatible with smart TVs with Android TV/Google TV, tvOS (Apple), Tizen (Samsung), WebOS (LG), Fire OS (Amazon).

YouTube Kids still exists

“Don’t worry, the YouTube Kids experience on your TV will not be disabled and any changes will only affect how you access YouTube Kids on TV,” the company said.

Since May 2023, YouTube Kids has been integrated into the core YouTube app, as has YouTube Gaming. To access this account, the parent simply had to switch to the child’s account (which had an active content filter).

Likewise, the experience is entirely geared towards kids, offering safe content and powerful parental control filters and tools for this audience.

In the ad, YouTube He did not announce the exact date when the change would come into force. However, it will take place in July this year.
