KrebsOnSecurity specialists are sounding the alarm. Owners of Apple equipment have increasingly begun to use phishing attacks aimed at “stealing” their Apple ID. This is not a new practice; there are quite a few similar cases, but now the situation has become more heated.
During this process, the user sends an endless number of documents or multi-factor authentication (MFA) messages with the intention of forcing them to change their Apple ID password. Because of this, a person can mistakenly click on the password reset button, the attacker already changes it to suit himself, and then kicks the real owner out of the account.
One of the users X noted that he was recently subjected to such an attack. He could not operate his equipment until he had rejected more than 100 requests.
If the scammers show them that the person has rejected their requests, they can call the Apple office and ask for the code from the SMS. It will also help them reset their Apple ID password.
Experts do not yet know how hackers send such a large number of requests, but, in general, they discovered a vulnerability on the company’s website.
