HE What’s up Started rolling out support for passkeys for its users iOS. The news was announced on the official profile of the messenger this Wednesday (24) and is expected to arrive as an update via the App Store.
Similar to the feature found in WhatsApp for Android (launched in October), iOS toggles also allow user logs into his/her own account without needing a password. If enabled, all attempts to log in to messenger will require authentication using local mobile phone mechanisms.
Passkeys (or “access keys” in free translation) are an authentication method designed to replace traditional passwords. Instead of relying on a hidden string of characters, mechanism relies on authentication mechanisms integrated into the device (For example, Face ID, Touch ID or PIN).
toggle switches now available on iOS ?? A safer (and easier!) way to sign back in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your password
here are some reasons why you should set this up?

Unlike existing proprietary solutions, toggle switches are an open standard, making the alternative much more suitable for services worldwide. The solution has been gradually implemented in applications, browsers and systems for years.
In general, passkeys are more secure than passwords. Access keys are stored fully encrypted on the device and are stronger against phishing and data leaks.
How to enable toggles in WhatsApp for iPhone?
Enabling toggles on iOS is optional but recommended for those looking for a more secure solution. Check below how to enable the function:
- On WhatsApp go to: Settings > Account > Passwords;
- Tap “Generate access key”;
- Proceed through the process by paying attention to the information provided by the system;
If all goes well, the access key will be saved in your favorite password manager and can be used on the next login attempt.
Like every new WhatsApp feature, Distribution occurs gradually. If this option still doesn’t appear in your app, it’s a good idea to check the App Store for pending updates.
