It’s difficult to say exactly how long I’ve been using Apple smartphones – definitely more than 10 years. I’ve had an iPhone 4s, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 and so on. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently lying on the desktop nearby.

All these years I have been constantly paying attention to obvious and not so obvious mistakes that are planned to be made with the iPhone holder. All of them negatively affect the speed of Apple smartphones, kill their batteries and more.

I want to once again reach out to iPhone owners of all shapes and sizes. For this I’ve put together 10 key mistakes that are best avoided.. Please pay attention to them.

If you know any other bad habits of iPhone owners, write comments to help not only beginners, but also experienced ones.

1. Unload applications from the system multitasking menu

Think of this menu simply as a list of recently running applications and nothing else.

I regularly notice how Apple smartphone holders “throw away” from many tasks applications created just after they were used. This is especially true for those who recently switched to iPhone from Android.

Once again, I hasten to inform you that this makes absolutely no sense, because iOS does not work like the vast majority of other operating systems.

Minimized standard and additional applications in 99% of cases do not affect either the speed of the iPhone or the battery life of Apple smartphones.

The only exceptions may be retractable applications that play any content in the background, as well as navigation. The last one is an internal category, which I still advise you to pay attention to, because you can simultaneously run several applications that continuously monitor geolocation.

All the rest when turning it just appears for a pause. Moreover, when starting again from scratch after being removed from the menu, many tasks result in more energy consumption than when simply restoring use.

2. Install test versions of iOS on the basic version of iPhone.

The beta version of iOS is best installed only on additional smartphones or simply not on a device when necessary.

Sometimes I myself also sin with this desire to try some new features of iOS, which Apple only tests, first the others. This usually doesn’t lead to anything good.

Test versions of the lighting system for the iPhone, not even numbered, usually They are not particularly stable and drain your smartphone battery faster. And chips that are only at the testing stage rarely work consistently and reliably.

It is not recommended to rush and store versions of the connection system only on an additional device – certainly not for the main test.

By the way, the same goes for iPad and Mac. On the Apple Watch, however, betas of the emitting system cannot be installed at all, because you will not be able to roll back your smartwatch to stable builds later.

3. Using a password that is too simple to unlock your iPhone.

A simple password is not only easier to guess, but also much easier to view.

Surprisingly, many naively believe that their smartphone is 100% protected using Touch ID or Face ID – Apple’s truly reliable biometric systems, which are very difficult to deceive.

However, in reality, a truly mobile device is only installed on it with a password. Finger and face scanners only make it possible to speed up (turn off) its input, nothing more.

If the iPhone cannot recognize the user using biometrics, it will definitely ask for a password. This is where it comes in handy something complex, not “1111”, “0000” or “1234”.

Moreover, it is also important to note that a smartphone password or the same biometric mechanisms are usually used not only to unlock the gadget, but also to enter any application.

I hope you think about this and change your password to something normal as soon as possible.

4. They hope that the Apple smartphone is protected from moisture.

Moisture can very easily kill even a device that seems to be “reliably” protected from it.

The IP67 and IP68 standards that Apple assigns to its smartphones “guarantee” their safety as the temperature in the water gradually decreases.

However, the company itself constantly clarifies that moisture getting inside the device and disable it just because of this is not a warranty casenor anything else respected.

The moisture protection of the iPhone is actually ensured by a flimsy rubber seal around the perimeter of the components from which the outer part of the case is assembled. It is not initially 100% reliable, and at the same time it has its own impact properties.

Therefore, I do not recommend taking risks and not using your smartphone in water without any additional protection, no matter how hard you try something like this. Just don’t take risks!

5. Actively use a smartphone with broken screen glass.

A broken screen not only looks unsightly, but can also lead to its failure.

Broken glass that is on the screen not only seems very unpleasant to use and can even cut your fingers (believe me, I know what he’s talking about), but it can also “finish off” the screen matrix and the entire device as a whole at the most inopportune moment.

A couple of years ago this was exactly the situation. After falling onto the glass, the iPhone’s carbon screen cracked. I was on the road, so I wasn’t strictly a substitute.

Eventually due to not very careful use of the gadget, moisture got inwhich, as I noticed after a visit to the service, became the cause of his sudden death.

It’s good that it was far from the newest smartphone, so it simply went into recycling. However, it could have easily worked for another year or two – especially since replacing the glass on it was a completely affordable procedure.

6. Do not change the battery after 2-3 years of using the iPhone.

When the back of your smartphone starts to lift, this is a clear sign of a battery problem.

Only when I switched from the iPhone 11, which I used to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, did you notice that the back panel of the old gadget rose a little closer to the center. This is obvious evidence that his battery has begun to swell.

In this condition, the battery can not only damage internal or external components of the smartphone that could still work, but also may lose its seal, catch fire and even explode.

That is why, when the battery status in the iPhone Settings has already dropped to 80% or lower, the device itself was produced a couple of years ago, it is best to replace the battery in it. It’s not that expensive today.

In the end, he sold the same device in this form, warning the new owner about the incident. I was surprised that it didn’t bother him at all.

7. Do not adjust exposure manually while taking a photo.

If you reduce the exposure a little, it will immediately look more professional.

The standard iPhone camera very rarely gets the exposure right. Most often, the built-in application overdoes the brightness and highlights certain parts of the photo.

It’s a pity that not everyone pays attention to this, so most photographs are simply taken automatically. Certainly, as a kit for a home photo album this has extreme negative aspects.

Therefore, it is best to get into the habit of selecting an object to view, and then, without actually lifting your finger from the screen, lower the exposure a little. try it!

8. Exposing iPhone to low/high temperature weather

This is what the screen of an Apple smartphone will look like if it overheats.

The iPhone should be stored at a temperature between -20℃ and 45℃ when turned off. Use it as recommended by Apple, preferably between 0 and 35°C.

Adhering to such strict limits is very basic, but it is best to at least try.

At least you should adhere to traditional advice:

▪ do not leave the device in the car on a hot day;
▪ it is better to put the gadget away in direct sunlight – most often this applies to window sills or cafes;
▪ try not to use heavy tasks in frankly hot environmental conditions – this is especially true for transport services.

If the device overheats, a special warning may appear on its screen, the brightness of the indicator will decrease, and cellular signal reception may be paused.

If the temperature is too high, this usually occurs when the device is running autonomously. For example, it can turn off at the most unexpected moment or simply run out of charge very quickly.

9. Keep the second smartphone completely discharged

It is best to store your smartphone in a charged state, plus or minus.

To slow down the chemical aging process of a battery or smartphone Best stored charged between 20-80%.

A fully charged or equally discharged one is killed much faster.

10. I don’t want to switch to iPhone 15 (Pro) because of USB Type-C

Type-C is the best thing about the new Apple smartphones.

I am sure that one of the most important components of the current line of Apple smartphones was the transition to Type-C.

By the way, only the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) supports USB 3 – fast data transfer at speeds of up to 10 Gb/s, which, among other things, makes it possible to shoot video without compression and save it directly to an external SSD.

However, even in the case of the iPhone 15 (Plus), thanks to the new port in the set of accessories used every day, you can leave only one Type-C cable, which is suitable for all devices, and the advantage of Lightning.

Standardization of ports in Apple technology is a long-awaited miracle. I advise you to try it 100% as quickly as possible, and not hold on to the old.

I’m surprised that many people actually do this, arguing their skepticism with a large set of accessories that were collected in old drawers over the years of using the iPhone.
