Pozdnyakov noted that there is no apparent specificity in the symptoms of FLiRT, a variant of the Omicron strain. FLiRT is slightly more contagious but highly non-pathogenic.
“In clinical manifestations, there is no specificity of symptoms for a particular disease. Loss of smell and taste changes occur in a small number of cases – no more than 15%. Traditionally, in addition to respiratory symptoms, cough and, to a lesser extent, runny nose, there are also fever, moderate intoxication syndrome and gastrointestinal disorders,” explained Pozdnyakov.
