Russian dealers began to refuse to import cars through parallel imports.

Among the reasons are the increase in recycling fees and difficulties in maintaining the machines, Izvestia reports.

Other market participants confirmed the loss of interest in this type of machine. During two months of this year, the number of ZOETS issuedZOETS is a document confirming that the vehicle is safe for use on Russian roads. They amounted to only about 4.5 thousand, although in September 2023 40 thousand such documents were issued, said Evgeniy Zhitnukhin, head of the dealer department of the FRESH car market.

Since April 1, 2024, the government has tightened control over the import of cars from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. It will be impossible to buy cars and import them into the country using “gray” schemes, as the owners will have to pay all customs duties.

It is easier to purchase cars for personal use from sellers who have completed the necessary payments. But since imported examples will go through customs clearance taking into account all tax obligations, the vehicles will be much more expensive, Oleg Sistovtsev, international investment consultant of the YEDA economic and technological zone, explained to RB.RU.
