Earlier it became known that the European Union, as part of the 14th package of anti-Russian sanctions, prohibits access to the union territory for three media outlets of the Russian Federation: the state news agency RIA Novosti, Izvestia and the state publication. Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

At the same time, the work of employees of these publications in the EU will not be limited.

Following the new sanctions, the Russian Federation decided to impose restrictions on 81 European media. Among them are the independent newspaper Politico, the German private media Der Spiegel, the international agency France-Presse (AFP), as well as the Spanish El País, the Estonian version of the Delfi portal and several dozen other large media outlets.

“If restrictions on Russian media are lifted, the Russian side will also reconsider its decision regarding the mentioned media operators,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Today, the Russian Federation continues to expand restrictions against several foreign sites. On June 21, a bill prohibiting the advertising of resources recognized as extremist in Russia was submitted to the State Duma.

Parliamentarians want to ban advertising, in particular on Facebook* and Instagram*.

*Meta and its Facebook and Instagram members are recognized as extremist organizations whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation.
