Scammers are actively using the new Telegram Stars currency to steal valuable data. They offer to buy “Stars” bypassing the App Store and Google Play. Their goal is to obtain personal data of users, including access to the Telegram Wallet cryptocurrency, Izvestia writes.

Telegram Stars can be used to pay for services in mini-apps using the simplest payment method available: in-app purchases on Android and iOS.
Apple and Google’s commission for the purchase of Stars is 30%, but Telegram subsidizes the purchased advertising, making the commission drop to 0%.
The attackers distorted the meaning of Pavel Durov’s words and offered to get rid of the commission by buying directly from private traders. Experts say that the number of unscrupulous resources offering to buy currency will only grow. The reason is the constant growth of the messenger’s audience and the growing interest of users in cryptocurrencies.
