The Head of the Russian Government Staff Dmitry Grigorenko instructed the Ministry of Justice, together with the Ministry of Digital Development, the Federal Tax Service and the Center for Biometric Technologies, to develop a service for receiving civil registry office services based on biometrics.
The Unified Biometric System (UBS) will be used to confirm identity when registering a marriage. A number of registry office services will be able to receive it without documents. For example, marriage, name change, paternity establishment.
After the launch of the service, Russians will be able to choose: to use the services of the registry office using a passport or biometrics.
The order was given by the Deputy Prime Minister taking into account the experience of holding a “pilot” wedding at the “Russia” exhibition. During the event, the identity of the wife and bride was confirmed using biometrics. [РГ]
