In Dagestan, Rostov and two other Russian regions, the demand for car rentals has increased significantly due to tourists.

The head of the car rental department at Avito Auto, Ilya Zarembo, said that the reason for the increase in demand is the increase in the number of travellers. The expert named the regions where demand increased the most.

“In the Altai Territory, demand grew by more than 120% in two months, in the Irkutsk and Rostov regions – by more than 87% and 50%, respectively, and in Dagestan – by more than 30%. This is due to the fact that in summer the number of travellers increases, many of whom rent cars,” the expert said. These destinations have been popular with tourists this summer.

Supply was unable to meet demand. The number of car rental advertisements during the two summer months compared to the two spring months increased by only 6.5%.

The average cost of renting a car per day was 2,000 rubles, Mercedes-Benz cars were offered most often and their share in the offer was 10.4%. Toyota came in second place with a share of 9.8%, and VAZ (LADA) came in third with 9.7%. The offer of Daewoo cars grew most dynamically year after year – 4.4 times.

Hyundai cars were in the highest demand among Russians, renting them in 14.1% of cases. The domestic brand VAZ (LADA) came in second with 13.4%, and Kia came in third with 9.3%.

“Demand for Hyundai rental vehicles is growing more dynamically: year-on-year the figure increased by 2.9 times. Toyota became the leader in terms of dynamics in two months: demand increased by 64.7%.

Demand for car rental is growing not only for personal use, but also for taxi use: in the latter segment, the dynamics were 12.6% in two months and 16.4% year-on-year. Interest in renting a car for later purchase is also growing dynamically: over the year, demand increased by 142.1% and compared to April-May – by 68.2%.
