Russians have begun to lend money more often. Analysts from the high-paying job search service Superjob compared these figures with those of last year and came to this conclusion, they told RB.RU. The amounts they are willing to lend to neighbours, colleagues and loved ones have also increased.

2,500 people from more than 450 localities across Russia were asked how often they borrow and give money in the same way. If they need money, 20% of citizens will go to the bank to ask for a loan, 12% will borrow from relatives, 4% from friends, and 1% from colleagues. Less than 1% of respondents will hire an employer. But 62% of respondents do not receive money in this way at all.
Analysts noted that three years ago the proportion of those who borrowed from relatives and from the bank was equal and amounted to 17%. Now the country’s residents are more willing to turn to the bank than to relatives or friends.
The bank is more often chosen by men (22% versus 18% of women). People over 35 will also apply for a loan, but younger Russians will turn to their relatives. 27% of respondents usually lend money to relatives, 25% are willing to lend money to friends, and 6% to colleagues (the lowest figure since 2019). 39% do not practice lending money to anyone at all.
Borrowing in Russia has become less frequent: over the year there has been a 7% increase in the number of people who do not borrow from anyone. And those who are willing to lend, on the contrary, increased by 8%. Compared to last year, they began to lend not only more often, but also more: the average check size for this item is 18,000 rubles. For a relative – 14,000 rubles. On average, Russians are willing to lend a friend and a colleague about 8,000 rubles.
In early August, the Federal Tax Service and the Ministry of Finance finalized the draft law on extrajudicial collection of tax debts. RB.RU reported that, for example, the period of disagreement with the collection will be tripled: from 10 to 30 days.
