Billionaire aviator Jared Isaacman left the Dragon spacecraft, which was then flying at an altitude of more than 700 kilometers above the Earth’s surface at a speed of more than 25 thousand kilometers per hour. A few minutes later he returned successfully. Previously, only astronauts funded by the governments of various countries went into outer space.

Sarah Gillis, a prominent SpaceX engineer, followed him into space. She broadcast it live on SpaceX’s social media. Two other members of the completely private crew, Anna Menon and Scott “Kidd” Poteet, remained inside the ship. But they also had to find themselves in an airless space, since the Dragon has no airlock and to enter space they had to open the hatch wide.

Prior to the spacewalk, the suit was tested during the Dragon flight between Australia and Antarctica.

Polaris Dawn is one of three planned missions in the Polaris program and has received backing from billionaire CEO of Shift4 Payments, Jared Isaacman. The reusable Crew Dragon spacecraft with four tourists was launched into orbit two days ago. The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket with the Crew Dragon spacecraft took place on September 10 at 12:23 Moscow time.
