Discord messenger in Russia has been experiencing outages since September 18, 2024, according to data from Downdetector SU.

As of 05:00 Moscow time on September 19, complaints are still being received, with most of the messages being registered in the Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Tver regions, as well as in the Kamchatka Territory.

Most Russians are experiencing problems with the lack of connectivity in both the web version and the mobile application. The company has not yet commented on the failure of the service in the Russian Federation.

Discord is a platform that allows users to communicate via text messages, voice calls, and video conferencing. Popular among gamers as well as various communities, educational groups, and corporate teams.

  • On March 12, 2024, Roskomnadzor included Discord in the register of social networks. Now the service must independently identify and block information banned in the Russian Federation posted on its resource. Violation of the law is punishable by a fine of up to 8 million rubles.
  • A couple of days later, Discord began blocking such information. Users began receiving notifications about the unavailability of servers where information with prohibited content in Russia is discussed or posted.
