In the first minutes of charging, the power can indeed reach 40 W for short periods of time, but most of the time it remains at 27 W like the previous generation.
While there are power boosts, they are short-lived and the overall charging process hasn’t changed significantly. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro Max fully charges in 1 hour and 45 minutes, which is just 10 minutes faster than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
In real life use this difference is almost imperceptible.
And this brings us once again to a harsh reality: Users’ expectations for faster charging of the iPhone 16 were not met. Changes in charging time are minimal.
