What to do with the error “Could not create a new account.” All possible solutions

Apple technology users sometimes have difficulty creating a new Apple ID account. Often, an error message appears and the system does not allow you to create an account.

Why does the error “Could not create a new account” occur?

▶ Limitation on creating an Apple ID on one device. Apple sets a limit of 15 accounts on one device (the information is not official, but it is often verified empirically). This was done to combat bots, farms, spam and cheating, when attackers launch batches of new accounts for some not very legal business using Apple, iCloud or iMessage.

If you are using an old iPhone purchased from a secondary market, this may be the problem.

▶ Limitation for creating the first account on iPhone. Another theory that is not 100% confirmed, but many agree with it. In the spring of 2024, something changed in Apple’s policy, and the company sometimes blocks the ability to create the first account on the new iPhone directly with the gadget itself. We don’t yet know what this might be connected with, but this situation happens to some users.

▶ Blocking by Russian email. Sometimes the problem arises when, when registering, the user specifies the email address of some Russian postal service. This address will be used as an Apple ID, and at some point during the verification process an error occurs.

And again, the situation does not repeat itself in 100% of cases, someone registers accounts for Russian mail in batches without errors, someone cannot create their first Apple ID.

▶ Blocking by Russian IP address. Another floating error that some users have noticed. From this we can conclude that some accounts are taken into account during some kind of moderation during creation and cannot pass it. Everyone can protect themselves from the moderator’s mood, days of the week, moon cycle, and so on.

There is no single advice that will help in 100% of cases. But there are several solutions, each of which can take a particular situation.

1. Create an Apple ID through your browser.

To do this, activate your gadget without logging into your account and victorize any other device with Internet access. It is not necessary that an Android smartphone or a Windows PC can be used on this Apple technology.

Go to the Apple ID management site and create a new account there.

2. Create an Apple ID through the iCloud service.

This is the corresponding Apple service, through which you can also create a new account, and sometimes everything goes through it quickly and without problems.

Go to the iCloud website, click Loginand then Create an Apple Account. Then proceed as usual when keeping records.

3. Create an Apple ID through your email client.

Another workaround that sometimes helps. It is necessary for the accused to create an account through the add a new mailbox menu.

On iPhone performed Settings – Applications – Mail – Mail accounts. Click Add an account – iCloud – Create a new Apple account. If possible, sign in to this account in iOS settings.

4. Use foreign mail as an Apple ID.

If revealing the methods does not help, specify your Gmail email when creating an account. Pre-register a new account there, and then specify it when creating an Apple ID.

5. Choose a different country for your Apple ID.

This helps some users. In one of the first steps, any other country is indicated, for example, Kazakhstan. Then create your Apple ID as usual. You can select a local phone number and receive a verification code.

When the account is created, you can immediately change the country in Russia.

6. Add a valid payment method when creating.

It is believed that Apple is willing to let accounts with a verified payment method pass through and has recently been actively pursuing accounts without it. At the moment, payment from an MTS or Beeline account works in Russia.

Please select your preferred payment method when creating a new account. This may be a phone number that is already used for payment on another Apple ID.

7. Use a foreign IP

If none of the above helped, when creating an account, connect to a foreign IP and create an account for Russia or the Kazakh method.
