The Avito platform announced the launch of a new algorithm that will help identify products with high prices and check whether sellers really offer discounts on their goods during seasonal sales. Company representatives reported that 1 billion rubles were allocated for the development of this service and the organization of the upcoming sale.
According to Avito experts, the new algorithm will track products whose prices have increased in the last days before the start of sales. If the price of a product has been artificially inflated for the purpose of discounting it later, this product will be removed from the list of promotional offers. Avito Products Product Director Sergey Khakimov noted that this measure aims to combat fake discounts that can be encountered both in offline and online stores.
A previous study by Avito showed that 84% of Russians prefer to shop online. Many noted that one of the main advantages of online shopping is the ability to compare prices on different platforms. As a result of the survey, it turned out that during major sales Russians are willing to spend an average of 22,000 rubles.
