A new study showed that it’s best to consume no more than 25 grams of sugar per day, or about 6 teaspoons. To do this, scientists analyzed the results of 73 previous scientific studies.

Gout risk increased by 4% when participants consumed one more serving of sugary drinks per week, according to a new review. With two more servings, it increased by 8%, etc.

Additionally, every 250ml increase in sugar-sweetened beverage consumption was associated with a 17% increase in the chances of developing coronary heart disease.

Finally, every 25 gram increase in fructose intake increases the risk of pancreatic cancer by 22%.

Sugar may be disguised under other names on labels. For example: sucrose, dextrose, maltose, glucose, fructose, cane juice, corn syrup/high fructose corn syrup.
