Vladimir Putin said that YouTube itself is to blame for the slowdown in Russia.
This is how the president answered a question from blogger Vlad A4 about the slowdown of YouTube in Russia.
Regarding YouTube slowdown. Here, perhaps, there are more questions on YouTube’s side than on ours.
Google, when it created its network here with us, it created and was responsible for “subsidiaries” in Russia, a legal entity that it paid, created the corresponding services that need to be maintained. Having created these “subsidiaries”, he worked with them, and after various restrictions and sanctions began to be introduced in the West, Google practically stopped (paying), funding was reduced, and the supply of relevant equipment here was reduced. And thus he created a problem for himself.

Putin added that YouTube is obliged to comply with Russian laws and should not abuse its offers.
YouTube and Google must abide by our laws, must abide by some kind of online scams, namely, must not abuse the web to further their government’s political goals.
When a person starts looking for some topic in a search engine – culture, music, and instead of culture and music some things come up that have nothing to do with culture or music, but are propaganda of some political platform. Or, for example, begin to practically remove the names of our artists, bloggers, politicians, and so on.
And all this is a violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation. Roskomnadzor, as the controlling organization in question, thus makes claims against them. And I’m doing the right thing.
Therefore, they must choose: either they comply with our laws, and, probably, then they are subject to some restrictions in their own country, but then let them work there. Or, if you want to work here, let them act in accordance with the laws of Russia.
A holy place, as we say, is never empty, competition is growing. VK, Telegram and Rutube are all available, so if Google and YouTube, understanding this, somehow change their work cycle, then they will not have any problems.
