“At the proposal of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the government has organized work to further regulate the rules for the sale of pneumatic weapons, as well as products with muzzle energy from 0.5 to 3 J, regardless of caliber” the statement said.
In addition, now the card for goods “structurally similar to weapons” must have an age mark, and users will be able to access it only by confirming that they have turned 18 years old, the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
They added that employees of order delivery points will be able to transfer the purchased tires to the buyer only after presenting a document proving their identity and age.
The department explained the need to take action due to the aggravation of problems associated with “the indiscriminate use of pneumatic weapons without a license, mainly by adolescents.” According to current legislation, an air pistol can be purchased without a license if its power does not exceed 7.5 J and its caliber does not exceed 4.5 mm.
The press service of Wildberries RB.RU reported that they have already fulfilled the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. “Products structurally similar to weapons with a muzzle energy of 0.5 to 3 J are no longer available for sale to minors and have an age mark on the platform,” they said. Wildberries clarified that cards with such products are verified using a special algorithm.
Ozon RB.RU stated that they also began to follow the new rules: “We have already limited the sale of all products with a mouth energy greater than 0.5 J to minors; Without proof of age, such products are no longer available to users under 18 years of age. of age.”
