Patches KB5048667 and KB5048685 specifically cause the Start menu to stop working in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. To fix the problem, you need to modify the registry by adding StartMenuExper to UviProcessExcludes and reboot the system.

There were also problems with the Start menu search appearing white in the Windows dark theme. This makes the system less comfortable to use and requires additional settings.

An outdated MSVCP_140_APP.dll package causes StartMenuExperienceHost.exe to crash, rendering the Start menu inoperable. The solution is to install Microsoft.VCLbs.140.00 or uninstall older versions via PowerShell.

The KB5048685 update may cause the screen to become dim and whites to appear yellowish, possibly due to HDR issues. Users are also complaining about issues with the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon and TCP resets.
